LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- In Davidson's first ever appearance at the NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Championships, junior Lindsey Martin finished 30th with a time of 22.75 in the preliminary session of the 50 freestyle on the first day of competition at Purdue University's Boilermaker Aquatic Center Friday.
The top 16 finishers in the event advanced to the evening's final, led by Georgia's Anne-marie Botek with a time of 22.16. Liv Jensen (California, 22.21), Shara Stafford (Florida, 22.22), Samantha Woodward (Stanford, 22.26), Lauren Perdue (Virginia, 22.26), Amywren Miller (Notre Dame, 22.30), Hannah Wilson (California, 22.31), Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace (Auburn, 22.32) and Elizabeth Webb (Stanford, 22.32) fill out the championship final.
Michele King (Tennessee, 22.35), Presley Bard (Southern California, 22.35), Whitney Campbell (Louisville, 22.36), Kate Dwelley (Stanford 22.38), Rebecca Thompson (Wisconsin, 22.42), Justine Schluntz (Arizona, 22.44) and Sarah Bateman (Florida, 22.47) advanced to the consolation final.
Martin finished tied for 30th-place with Texas A&M's Sarah Woods with her time of 22.75, just slower than her qualifying time of 22.57.
She will return to action in the preliminary of the 200 freestyle tomorrow morning and conclude her schedule with the 100 freestyle on Saturday.
