Martin, Burton-Akright Earn CCSA Weekly Honors

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Senior Lindsey Martin has been selected as the CCSA Women's Swimmer of the Week, while freshman teammate Kaliya Burton-Akright (Tampa, Fla.) earned the CCSA Women's Diver of the Week for the week of Oct. 11-17.
Martin won a pair of individual titles at East Carolina last Friday, sweeping the freestyle sprints with CCSA-best times. She won the 50 free with a time of 23.79 and 100 free, in which she is unbeaten this season, with a time of 51.98. Martin also anchored the conference-leading 400-medley relay to a time of 3:59.06 and the runner-up 200-freestyle relay team to a time of 1:38.26. It is her fifth career CCSA weekly honor.
Burton-Akright earns her first career honor after finishing third on the 1-meter with a season-best score of 244.42, which ranks second in the conference, and fourth in 3-meter with a score of 240.52, the highest in the CCSA this season.
The Wildcats will return to action Saturday, when they travel to NC State for a 1 p.m. meet, their third straight on the road.
Also nominated for Women's Swimmer of the Week for Week 3: Cherisse Campbell (Campbell), College of Charleston Team, Ali Campbell (Georgia Southern) and Jessica Frazelle (Radford).
Also nominated for Women's Diver of the Week for Week 3: Sara Meisenhelder (Georgia Southern), Julia Moomaw (North Florida) and Katie Shaffer (Radford).
