ELON, N.C. —
Playing the first of four straight road games, the Davidson women's soccer team was unable to keep a pair of unbeaten streaks alive as they let in a goal in the 69th minute and fell 1-0 at Elon on Friday night at Rudd Field in Southern Conference action.

Davidson (4-5-2, 0-1-2 SoCon) saw its eight-game conference unbeaten streak (5-0-3) come to an end with the defeat. The 'Cats also suffered their first loss to the Phoenix since 2003 as their seven-match winning streak in the all-time series to Elon (7-3-1, 2-1 SoCon) was halted.

Both teams played to an even 0-0 halftime score, though Davidson had a prime opportunity to score in the 32nd minute. Junior Stephanie Gerow (Houston, Texas) ripped a shot from outside the 18-yard box that clipped the crossbar. The ball then came out to freshman Deprise Brazel (San Diego, Calif.), who turned and fired off a shot, but it went wide.

The second half stayed scoreless until Elon earned a corner kick at the 69:19 mark. After the ball was served into the box, in the scramble to control the rebound, Kimmie Krauss gathered in the loose ball and fired off a shot to the far post for the first Elon goal against Davidson since 2003.

Shortly thereafter at the 73:53 mark, the 'Cats nearly scored the equalizer when they drove down the field and senior Callan Elswick (Locust Grove, Va.) got a clean look on goal, but once again, the shot hit off the crossbar.

Senior Allison Drutchas (Bloomfield, Mich.) got off a pair of shots in the 87th and 89th minutes, but neither shot was able to find the back of the net.

Making her first career collegiate start in goal was freshman Renae Cairns (Ballston Spa, N.Y.), who closed with four saves for Davidson. Elon's Kristen Haney was credited with two saves.

Davidson continues its road trip with a 2 p.m. contest at UNCG on Sunday.

GAME NOTES: Davidson had shutout Elon in the past seven meetings prior to tonight, outscoring the Phoenix 11-0 during that stretch ... Davidson remains two SoCon wins away from reaching the 100 mark in program history ... the Wildcats' longest conference unbeaten streak is 11 set between the 2005 and 2006 seasons.

Scoring Summary
69:42   ELON      Kimmie Krauss (unassisted)
