Davidson Draws South Carolina in Postseason NIT

DAVIDSON, N.C.— Davidson will open its fifth straight postseason campaign in the NIT Tuesday, March 17, when the Wildcats travel to South Carolina for a 7 p.m. contest. The game will be televised live on ESPN2.

The sixth-seeded Wildcats (26-7) take on the third-seeded Gamecocks (21-9). The winner faces the winner of the game between second-seeded St. Mary's (Calif.) and seventh-seeded Washington State.

It's Davidson's fourth appearance in the postseason NIT and the first since the 2005 season, when the Wildcats defeated Virginia Commonwealth (77-62) and SW?Missouri State (82-71) before falling 78-63 at Maryland.

The 'Cats and Gamecocks have a storied history that dates back to 1909 and includes a previous postseason NIT matchup, a 100-79 South Carolina home victory in 1996, which is also the last time the two schools met on the hardwood. The 'Cats trail the all-time series 39-25 and are 6-24 on the road.
