DAVIDSON, N.C.— Davidson guard Stephen Curry has been named one of 15 finalists for the Oscar Robertson Trophy and has been named one of the top-30 mid-season candidates for the Naismith Trophy.
The Oscar Robertson Trophy is given to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association's National Player of the Year, while the Naismith Trophy is a Player of the Year award selected by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.
Earlier in the season, Curry was named a mid-season candidate for the Wooden Award and a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award, given to the nation's top point guard. The Wooden Award presentation takes place in Los Angeles in April, while the other three honors are awarded during the Final Four in Detroit.
Curry leads the country in scoring with 28.3 points a game. The junior also ranks 21st nationally in assists (5.8/gm) and 10th in steals (2.6/gm) and leads the Southern Conference in all three categories. He's tied for ninth on the NCAA?Division I career 3-pointers list and ranks fourth on the Southern Conference chart in career scoring.
Curry and the Wildcats return to action Saturday in their regular-season home finale against Georgia Southern at 2 p.m. in John M . Belk Arena.
