DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson Wildcat swimming and diving team will return to Cannon Natatorium this weekend, as they host the NC State Wolfpack in a dual meet at noon on Saturday.
About the Wildcats
The Wildcat women (1-4, 1-0 CCSA) are fresh off their first dual-meet victory, a 151-89 triumph over CCSA-foe College of Charleston in Charleston last Saturday. Junior Emily Castle was named CCSA Women's Swimmer of the Week after winning a pair of individual titles and swimming on a winning relay, as Davidson defeated the Cougars and were defeated, 151-89, by William & Mary last weekend.
Without divers to make up the difference, the Wildcat men (0-5, 0-1 CCSA) were narrowly defeated, 112-124, by the College of Charleston men and are still searching for their first dual meet victory of the season. Freshman Drew Onken won a pair of titles in both of the Wildcats' meets this weekend, winning the 200 fly and the 200 breast against the College of Charleston and the 200 back and 200 breast against William & Mary.
About the Wolfpack
The Wolfpack men (2-0, 2-0 ACC) return from a one week hiatus after toppling both Duke and Maryland in its season opener on Oct. 24. Hudson Rains qualified for the NCAA diving zones and Matt Voell won the 100 butterfly in his collegiate debut, while the Pack took first place in 10 of 16 events.
The Wolfpack women (3-1, 1-1 ACC) swept both Campbell and Richmond this past weekend at Casey Natatorium. NC State swimmers and divers placed first in 11 of 16 events at the tri-meet, culminating in 13 top-3 times/scores for the year. Thus far this season the Pack has put up four all-time top-10 times - including three in individual action from Marifrances Henley, Jen Kopenitz and Morgan Robertson.
Up Next
The Wildcats will take three weekends off to prepare for the Nike Invitational at Kenyon College on December 3, the conclusion of the first half of the season.
