CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Davidson continued its end of the season winning ways by taking home its fourth straight win with a 7-0 blanking of Charlotte in a battle of cross-county rivals on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference win's tennis action at the Phillips Tennis Complex. The Wildcats have won seven of their last eight matches.

The Wildcats improved to 16-4 as they head into their final week of regular season matches before the Southern Conference tournament. Davidson also ran its all-time record against its cross-county rival to 15-7. Charlotte fell to 4-12 overall.

Senior Kelsey Linville (Columbus, Ohio) and sophomore Virginia Berry (Spartanburg, S.C.) led the way in doubles action with an 8-6 win at No. 1 to run their record to 13-5 as a team. Davidson also scored a win at the No. 2 doubles to capture the doubles point.

Then in singles action junior Michele Fanney (Virginia Beach, Va.) and senior Kim Whelan (Sewickley, Pa.) each picked up their fourth and fifth straight singles wins, respectively, to guide the Wildcats to the 7-0 triumph. Fanney tallied a three-set win to score her 12th singles victory of the season.

Whelan ran her overall singles mark to 15-4 after capturing a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4. The senior has picked up seven of her wins at the No. 4 spot where she is 7-1 on the season.

Also tallying singles wins was Linville, Berry and freshman Alison Rauh (Trier, Germany), who took home a 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 5 over Gabi Vergara.

Davidson closes out its season with two home SoCon matches starting first with Wofford on Friday, Apr. 11 at 3 p.m.
