Bio
Price on Whelan: Had a strong sophomore season that was instrumental in the team's success. Whelan finds a way to win and produce results. Selected a junior tri-captain, she presents strong groundstrokes, a forehand weapon as well as an offensive game that continues to improve.
2006-2007: Finished junior campaign with a 15-9 overall singles record ... one of only two Wildcats to win seven conference singles matches ... combined with Linville to win 12 doubles matches on the season.
2005-06: Named first-team all-conference for her play in doubles ... concluded sophomore campaign with 17-8 overall mark at the No. 3 seed ... like three other Wildcats posted an 8-1 SoCon singles clip ... 13 of her singles triumphs came in straight sets ... paired with Kelsey Linville to go 14-10 and 7-2 in SoCon doubles matches.
2004-05: Competed mostly at the sixth spot coompiling an overall mark of 18-5 in singles play ... dropped just two SoCon matches as a freshman ... teamed with three different doubles partners, recorded a 17-8 record.
Prep/Personal: Lettered each of her four seasons at North Allegheny High ... played the top-seed for Coach Jim Sloan's Tigers ... advanced to the state quarterfinals in doubles competition as a freshman and semifinals the following year ... was a state semifinalist in singles in 2002 and 2003 ... born Jan. 16, 1986 ... daughter of Jim and Nancy Whelan ... has two younger sisters, Kelly (12) and Karley (8).
