WILDCAT UPDATE
- Coming off a convincing 82-49 victory over Wofford in the quarterfinals, No. 25 and top-seeded Davidson will put its nation-leading 20-game winning streak on the line against the fifth-seeded UNC Greensboro Spartans in the semifinals of the 2008 Southern Conference Men's Basketball Tournament Sunday evening.
- Sophomores Stephen Curry (19) and Bryant Barr (17) combined for 36 points and 10 three-pointers, while Jason Richards added 13 points and seven assists in Davidson's 33-point win over the Terriers.
- The Wildcats (24-6, 20-0) are attempting to win its 10th tournament title and fifth under Head Coach Bob McKillop.
- To go along with completing their third perfect league slate (1995-96, 2004-05, 2007-08) under Coach McKillop, the Wildcats have won 34 straight games against league competition and 45 of their last 46 contests.
- SoCon Player of the Year Curry leads the conference in scoring and ranks fifth nationally with an average of 25.1 per outing. The five-time SoCon Player of the Week also ranks among national leaders in free-throw percentage (8th/89.4), three-pointers made (T-2nd/130) and three-pointers per game (3rd/4.3).
- Along with Curry ranking among national leaders in scoring, his backcourt mate and first-team All-SoCon selection Richards is also averaging double digits (13.0 ppg.) and still leads the country in assists at 8.0 per contest.
- By virtue of winning the regular-season title, Davidson has already earned a bid to the NIT at the very least. But the Wildcats have their sights set on becoming the first SoCon team to win three straight league tournaments and the SoCon's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament since Chattanooga in 1993, 1994 and 1995.
