DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The list of postseason accolades continues to grow for Davidson's Stephen Curry as Sports Illustrated recently named him to its All-America second team.
A sophomore from Charlotte, N.C., Curry led the SoCon in scoring and ranks fifth nationally with an average of 25.3 points per game. The five-time league Player of the Week and three-time Player of the Month also ranks among national leaders in free-throw percentage (8th/89.4), three-pointers made (3rd/125) and three-pointers per game (3rd/4.3).
Named to both the Wooden and Naismith midseason lists, Curry hit the 20-point plateau 21 times this season and the 30-point mark eight times, including a career-high 41 points at UNC Greensboro, Feb. 13. To go along with his scoring totals, the 6-3 shooting guard has hit five or more three-pointers in a contest 14 times on the campaign.
Winners of 19 straight, No. 25 Davidson enters this week's SoCon Men's Basketball Tournament 23-6 overall. The top-seeded and two-time defending champions begin play in Saturday's quarterfinals at 2 p.m. against the eighth-seeded Wofford Terriers.
