- Davidson's last win in the NCAA Tournament came in 1969 when Lefty Driesell led the Wildcats over St. John's before falling to North Carolina in the Regional Finals for the second consecutive year. That same season, Davidson defeated Villanova in Raleigh, N.C., to advance to the second round.
- In last year's setback to Maryland in the first round, Curry poured in a game-high 30 points including five buckets from downtown. Richards also scored in double digits with 11 points.
