
Davidson Earns 10th Seed and Draws Gonzaga in First Round of NCAA Tournament

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Riding the nation's longest winning streak and coming off its third straight Southern Conference Tournament title, No. 23/25 Davidson was tabbed the Midwest Region's 10th seed and will take on the seventh-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs (25-7) in the first round of the 2008 NCAA Tournament Friday, March 21 at the RBC Center in Raleigh. Game times will be announced Monday.
The winner of Davidson's first-round matchup will advance to face the victor of the game between second-seeded Georgetown and 15th-seeded UMBC.
Making their 10th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and fourth since 2002, the Wildcats have won a national-best 22 straight and enter their contest with Gonzaga 26-6 overall.
Davidson is 5-10 all-time in the NCAA Tournament with its last appearance an 82-70 setback to fourth-seeded Maryland a year ago in Buffalo, N.Y..
