DAVIDSON, N.C. -- A day after being named the Southern Conference Tournament MVP for a second consecutive season, Davidson's Stephen Curry was voted second-team All-America by Sporting News as announced Monday afternoon.
A 6-3 shooting guard from Charlotte, N.C., Curry led the SoCon in scoring and fifth nationally with an average of 25.1 points per game. The five-time league Player of the Week, three-time Player of the Month and conference Player of the Year also ranks among national leaders in free-throw percentage (10th/89.8), three-pointers made (1st/139) and three-pointers per game (3rd/4.3).
Riding the nation's longest winning streak of 22 consecutive victories, No. 23 / 25 Davidson (26-6) awaits Selection Sunday (March 16) to find out their seed and destination for their fourth NCAA Tournament since 2002.
