#58 South Carolina Takes 6-1 Decision Over Davidson M. Tennis

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 58 University of South Carolina men's tennis team completed a doubleheader sweep with a 6-1 win over visiting Davidson on Saturday afternoon at the USC Indoor Fieldhouse.
Davidson, coming off a 6-1 win over Longwood to start the month of February, fell to an even 2-2 on the year. The Gamecocks continued their winning ways with a sixth straight victory to open the season at 6-0. Earlier in the day, USC defeated Charlotte 6-1 as well.
The Wildcats battled through in doubles play, but dropped all three matches in falling behind 1-0 in team points.
Junior Scott Myers (West Palm Beach, Fla.) was then the lone Wildcat to score a singles win as the Gamecocks took five of the six matches, all in straight sets, for the 6-1 win. Davidson entered play an even 9-9 as a team in singles play.
Myers saw his record move to 2-0 at No. 6 singles, 3-1 overall in singles, when he defeated Chris Sheehan to close out the match and give Davidson its one team point.
Davidson will turn right around and play a home match tomorrow when visiting Gardner-Webb comes to Knobloch Tennis Center for a 3 p.m. match. The 'Cats took a 5-2 home victory against the Bulldogs last season.
