Stephen Curry Named SoCon Player of the Week

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson junior guard Stephen Curry has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for his performance in two Wildcat victories last week. It's the fourth time this season and 12th time in his career that Curry has earned the honor, which is selected by a vote of the league's basketball sports information directors.
Curry helped Davidson improve to 8-1 on the season with wins over West Virginia (68-65) and Chattanooga (100-95) last week. The junior guard averaged 34.0 points, eight assists and 2.5 steals a game.
The nation's scoring leader with 31.9 points per game, Curry netted all 10 of Davidson's points in a decisive 10-4 run as the Wildcats defeated West Virginia at Madison Square Garden last Tuesday in the Jimmy V Classic. He scored 41 points, including a school-record 31 in the second half of Davidson's 100-95 victory over Chattanooga on Saturday. He has scored at least 40 points a school-record five times in his career. Curry ranks 11th in the nation in assists per game (6.8 apg) and 15th in steals per game (2.9 spg).
Davidson is back in action Saturday afternoon when the Wildcats travel to Indianapolis to take on No. 13/18 Purdue in the Wooden Tradition in Conseco Fieldhouse. Tipoff is slated for 4 p.m., and the game will be televised live on CBS.
