DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Aaron Bond (Ashburn, Va.) and Brendan McKillop (Davidson, N.C.) have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Davidson College men's basketball team as announced by Wildcat head coach Bob McKillop, who just completed his 18th season at the helm.
"Aaron and Brendan are the kind of young men that we want representing our program and our College," commented Coach McKillop. "Their accountability in the classroom has been consistently evident in their academic performance."
Bond joins the Wildcats from Georgetown Prep where he concluded his career averaging 14 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals per outing. After leading the Hoyas to back-to-back conference titles as a junior and senior, Bond was named to the All-IAC and All-County squads. A McDonald's All-American nominee, the 6-5 guard was selected to play in the Capital Classic High School All-Star game following his final campaign for Coach Dwayne Bryant. Named Tournament MVP of the Bookjammin Tournament, Bond also earned All-Tournament honors at the Flint Hill Tip-off and Kruel Classic in 2006-07.
As a senior at Charlotte Catholic, Brendan capped off his prep career averaging 26 points, five rebounds and five assists per outing for Coach Bob Moran. Along with earning Queen City 3A/4A Player of the Year and Mecklenburg County Co-Player of the Year honors, McKillop surpassed the 1,000-point plateau during his final season with the Cougars. Brendan's brother Matt was a four-year standout for the Wildcats from 2002-06 and was a member of two postseason clubs (2005 NIT & 2006 NCAA).
"Their basketball talent, their work-ethic and their team oriented approach to the game are the kind of characteristics that make them a perfect fit for Davidson College Basketball. They are welcomed additions to our roster."
The 2007-08 Wildcats return five starters and 11 letterwinners from last year's NCAA Tournament squad that concluded the 2006-07 campaign 29-5 overall and 17-1 in the SoCon. To go along with their school-record wins total, the Wildcats enjoyed a pair of double-digit winning streaks and closed the year winning 25 of their last 27.
