SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
- Davidson enters 3-3 overall following a 79-73 setback to No. 7 Duke at Bobcats Arena Saturday.
- Despite their second loss to a Top-10 opponent on the young season, Jason Richards (14 points, 11 assists) and Boris Meno (13 points, 10 rebounds) each recorded double-doubles for the Wildcats, while Stephen Curry scored a team-high 20 points.
- Curry, named SoCon Player of the Week and Month earlier this week, has hit the 20-point plateau five times this season and has scored double figures in 33 consecutive contests and 39-of-40. It was the fourth time he has received the weekly and monthy honor in his brief career.
- Offensively, Curry continues to lead the Wildcats in scoring, averaging 25.0 points per outing, which also ranks him fifth in the nation. The 6-3 guard is shooting 49.5 percent (55-111) overall and 43.5 percent (27-62) from downtown.
- Along with Curry ranking among national leaders in scoring, his backcourt mate Jason Richards is also averaging double digits (11.7 ppg.) and leads the country in assists at nine per contest.
- Tonight's meeting between Davidson and the 49ers is the 36th all-time and 29th Annual Hornets' Nest Trophy Game. A year ago, the Wildcats ended Charlotte's three-year reign with a 79-51 victory in Davidson, Dec. 9, 2006.
- Charlotte has won nine of the last 11 meetings and holds a perfect 5-0 mark against the Wildcats in Halton Arena. The last time they met in Charlotte, the 49ers edged Davidson 85-81 in double overtime, Nov. 30, 2005.
SCOUTING THE 49ERS
- Charlotte enters tonight's affair with its cross-county rival 4-2 overall following a 63-59 win over Wake Forest at Bobcats Arena, Thursday, Nov. 29.
- Senior Leemire Goldwire leads a pair of 49ers in double digits on the young campaign averaging just over 18 per contest. Freshman An'Juan Wilderness (10.8), the A-10 Rookie of the Week for the week ending Dec. 1 is also contributing double figures each time the 49ers take the floor.
- As a club, Charlotte is holding its opponents to just 65.8 points per contest, but the 49ers are only shooting 39.4 percent from the floor. Despite its shooting woes, Charlotte is connecting on almost 40 percent of its attempts from long range.
