DAVIDSON, N.C. -- After putting an end to their first losing streak in more than a year, Davidson will begin its 2007-08 Southern Conference slate with a 7 p.m. tip at Appalachian State Monday evening.
The Wildcats enter 2-2 following a 98-50 victory over North Carolina Central Saturday afternoon. In Davidson's triumph over the Eagles, Stephen Curry led five Wildcats in double figures with 16 points, while Stephen Rossiter recorded his first career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Like the Wildcats, Appalachian State comes in after defeating an in-state foe. The Mountaineers held off Campbell 71-64 prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Kellen Brand continues to lead ASU in scoring at 15.2 points per game. He has hit the 10-point plateau in all but one contest, including a career-high 27 point in the season opener at Charlotte.
Tonight's game is the third time Davidson has opened SoCon play against the Mountaineers. The most recent came in the 2005-06, when the Wildcats prevailed, 102-69, Dec. 3 at the Holmes Center.
In the last meeting between these clubs, Appalachian State ended the Wildcats' 12-game winning streak with an 81-74 victory in Davidson, Jan. 20, 2007.
Coaches: Davidson Bob McKillop, the all-time winningest coach in Davidson and SoCon history has compiled a record of 313-220. Appalachian State Houston Fancher is 109-107 in eights seasons on the Mountaineers' bench and 153-148 as a collegiate head coach.
Series: Davidson leads 33-29.
Last Meeting: Appalachian State ended the Wildcats' 12-game winning streak with an 81-74 victory in Davidson, Jan. 20, 2007. It was also the only home loss for the 'Cats last season.
