Cheatwood Impresses in Collegiate Debut, Finishes Runner-Up in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Griffin Cheatwood signed for his second five-under 67 of the weekend to post a 54-hole total of 206 (67-72-67 | -10) to finish tied for second at the Bryan National Collegiate hosted by UNCG.
A freshman from Charlotte, Cheatwood entered the final round five off the pace and in third place before recording six birdies and just one bogey while posting his second sub-par round in his collegiate debut.
The Charlotte Latin product finished just three back of Radford freshman and individual champion David Goode (-13).
As a team, Davidson came home tied for sixth out of 13 teams following its second straight round of one-over 289.
Clayton Couey (E) and Nate Faulkner (E) also recorded top-20 showings for the Wildcats.
UNCG, the tournament host, led wire-to-wire taking the team title by 19 swings over the Highlanders.

After a one-year absence due to course renovations, Davidson will host the 2026 River Run Collegiate Sept. 21-22 at River Run Country Club.
