DAVIDSON, N.C. -- After earning a national ranking for the first time in 37 years, Bob McKillop and his Davidson Wildcats will travel to Western Michigan Wednesday, Nov. 21 for their first road contest of the 2007-08 campaign.
Davidson enters affair 1-1 overall following a 72-68 setback to the No. 1 North Carolina at Bobcats Arena, Nov. 14.
Despite the loss, sophomore Stephen Curry recorded his second straight 20-point campaign to begin the season and the 21st of his career with a game-high 24 points. Davidson led by as many as seven in the opening half and by three with just over six minutes to go, but UNC went on a late run to avoid the upset.
Western Michigan sits at 3-2 on the young season following a 60-59 triumph at Detroit, Monday evening.
Joe Reitz, the reigning MAC Player of the Year leads the Bronco attack averaging 15 points and 6.2 rebounds per outing. David Kool (15.0), Derek Drews (11.0) and Andre Ricks (10.2) are also contributing double digits each time Western Michigan hits the floor.
The first and only time these two clubs met on the hardwood, Davidson forced 26 turnovers and made 28-of-33 from the stripe to defeat Western Michigan 71-64 in Davidson, N.C., Dec. 30, 2006.
Coaches: Davidson Bob McKillop, the all-time winningest coach in Davidson and SoCon history has compiled a record of 312-219. The six-time SoCon Coach of the Year is in his 19 season. Western Michigan Steve Hawkins is 79-53 in five seasons on the Broncos' bench and 216-164 in 14 years as a collegiate head coach.
