McKillop Goes for Win No. 300 in Wildcats' Affair with Western Carolina

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Just one win shy of his 300th career victory, Head Coach Bob McKillop and his Davidson Wildcats will take to the floor in a 7 p.m. contest with league foe Western Carolina Saturday at Belk Arena.
The five-time SoCon Coach of the Year ranks first in Davidson and league history for triumphs thanks to a mark of 299-217. Last year's NCAA automatic bid via the 2006 Southern Conference tournament crown, marked the sixth time in McKillop's tenure he has led Davidson to a postseason berth the NCAA Tournament in 1998, 2002 and '06, and the NIT in 1994, '96 and 2005.
Davidson enters the contest 17-4 overall and 8-1 in the conference following a 101-92 victory at Georgia Southern Tuesday. Jason Richards scored 20 of his career-high 32 points in the first half as the Wildcats erased a 14-point deficit to remain unbeaten on the road in league competition this season. Fellow guard Stephen Curry added 23 including a hot-shooting frame of his own with 19 points in the final 20 minutes of action.
Thomas Sander (19), Boris Meno (11) and William Archambault (11) also reached double figures in a game that the Wildcats nailed 14 treys.
Western Carolina comes in 7-12 overall and 4-4 in the SoCon, but has dropped three straight in the league.
Nick Aldridge leads the way offensively for the Catamounts averaging just under 16 points per outing. Others in double figures for WCU on the campaign are Antonio Russell (14.9) and Arnold Gore (10.5).
The Wildcats' game with Western Carolina will be broadcast by the Davidson Sports Network with John Kilgo providing all the action over the airwaves. Coverage will begin 30 minutes before the opening tip at 2 p.m. For fans outside the radio signal, they can listen to the game via TEAMLINE on the Internet (www.teamline.cc) or the phone (800-847-4600, team code 1143).
