DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson athletics department has an interactive computer kiosk on display in its Hall of Fame room, allowing fans, alumni, students and staff to access information on each of the 76 current members.
The installation coincides with the Hall of Fame Day on Jan. 20 when three new inductees -- Angus McBryde '59, Charlie Slagle '74 and Brandon Williams '96 -- will be honored at both the men's and women's basketball games at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively, as well as at the induction banquet between the two contests.
"This exciting new design provides an opportunity to interactively display our Hall of Fame database," stated Director of Athletics Jim Murphy, "At the same time, it gives us the capacity to catalog, organize and present much of our archives and other historical information."
Biographical sketches on each of the members are available via the touch screen display and can be accessed by sport, graduation year, induction year or alphabetically. Digital images of portraits painted by nationally-renowned artist Todd Doney help bring the display to life. On either side of the computer screen are brass plates with the names of each member with plenty of space for future inductees.
The display will also include information on Davidson All-Americans and Academic All-Americans, as well as historical video from old game film archives of football, men's basketball and other sports as the exhibit is expanded.
Empire Exhibits of Watervliet, N.Y., was commissioned to produce the display. Tall white columns with the signature arch of the Baker Sports Complex grace the display, allowing it to meld seamlessly with the architecture of the building.
The Davidson men (16-3, 7-0), winners of 12 straight and leaders of the South Division of the Southern Conference, will square off against the North Division-leading Appalachian State Mountaineers (13-4, 5-1 before a Thursday night game at UNCG) in the first game of the doubleheader. The Wildcat women (15-3, 6-1), who also lead the SoCon standings, will battle against the Wofford Terriers (9-8, 3-4) in the nightcap.
