DAVIDSON, N.C. -After finishing the month of November with a 4-3 record, Bob McKillop and his Davidson Wildcats will tip-off December and their 2006-07 conference slate with a 7 p.m. home contest against Elon at Belk Arena Friday.
Now in his 18th year at the helm, McKillop is the all-time winningest coach in SoCon history with a league mark of 154-66 (.700). Since Davidson rejoined the SoCon in 1992, McKillop is 9-5 in conference openers.
Offensively, the Wildcats are led by freshman Stephen Curry, who ranks fourth among league leaders at 20.0 points per outing. The 6-1 guard is atop the SoCon in three-pointers per game drilling just under four per contest. Thomas Sander (14.3), Jason Richards (14.0) and William Archambault (11.0) also hold double digit scoring averages on the young season.
As a team, Davidson controls the top spot in three-point field goals per game, free throw percentage and rebounding margin, while ranking second among conference foes in six other statistical categories.
Elon enters the contest with a mark of just 1-4 on the campaign. Minus the top-scorer in the league, LeVonn Jordan, the Phoenix are coming off a 91-49 setback to VCU on Tuesday evening.
In four games this season, Jordan is averaging 22.3 points per game, including back-to-back performances of 30 and 26 points at Wake Forest and Vanderbilt, respectively.
The Wildcats' conference opener will be broadcast by WFNA 1660 AM and WHIP 1350 AM with John Kilgo providing all the action over the airwaves. Coverage will begin 30 minutes before the opening tip at 7 p.m. For fans outside the radio signal, they can listen to the game via TEAMLINE on the internet (www.teamline.cc) or the phone (800-847-4600, team code 1143).
