DAVIDSON,N.C. — Under the direction of 18th year head coach Bob McKillop, the Davidson Wildcats will take to the hardwood for the first time this season Friday evening as they host an exhibition contest with the University of Guelph in a 7 p.m. tip at Belk Arena.
The Wildcats return one starter from last year's SoCon Tournament champions that finished the 2005-06 campaign 20-11 overall and 10-5 in conference play. Last year's trip to the NCAA Tournament was the eighth in program history and third under McKillop, who is the all-time winningest coach in Davidson and SoCon history with a career mark of 282-213.
This year's club will turn to the leadership of junior tri-captains Boris Meno, Jason Richards and Thomas Sander, all of whom played in each of Davidson's 31 contests a year ago.
Meno, a 6-8 forward from Paris, France, led the club in rebounding (6.6 rpg) and blocked shots (18) last season. In 2005-06, Meno finished ninth among SoCon leaders in rebounds per game and fourth in total rebounds with 205.

The Barrington, Ill., native also added 4.5 points per contest and knocked down 40 of his 49 attempts (81.6 percent) from the charity stripe.
With a career shooting percentage of 64 percent, Sander is the leading returning scorer from last year's team with 6.5 points per game. In 12 starts to close out the season, the 6-8 forward from Cincinnati, Ohio was also one of three frontcourt players to finish the 2005-06 season with a rebounding average of at least six.
In addition, the Wildcats welcome a very talented freshman class highlighted by Stephen Curry (Charlotte, N.C.) and William Archambault (St. Hubert, Quebec).
The University of Guelph is a four-year institution located in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. The Gryphons will conclude their exhibition slate tomorrow evening at Charlotte before returning home for their season opener against Laurentian on Nov. 10.
