Gretchen Krumdieck is beginning her third season as the assistant coach for the Wildcats, her sixth overall. During the 2010 campaign, Krumdieck stepped in as Interim Head Coach and led the ‘Cats to a 16-18 record and fourth place finish in the South Division of the Southern Conference. She coached Sarabeth Peele to the All-SoCon First Team, NCCSIA All-State Volleyball Team and CoSIDA Academic All-District III Third Team honors. Her main duties include assisting with practice and match preparation, team travel, scouting opponents, coordinating special projects and serving as assistant camp director.
Prior to Davidson, Krumdieck served as the assistant coach at the University of Buffalo in 2009 and spent the 2007-08 seasons at High Point University. She helped lead the Panthers to a 24-7 record in 2007, finishing third in the Big South Conference. The team also set school records for most wins, best winning percentage and most consecutive wins. At High Point, Krumdieck handled daily on-court instruction duties during the season and also assisted in recruiting. During her two seasons, she coached four All-Big South Conference players and one player on the Big South All-Freshman team.
Krumdieck graduated in 2003 from Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, W.V. with a B.A. in elementary education. She was a three-year letterwinner and helped lead her team to two WVIAC regular-season championships and an appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament. In 2000, Krumdieck was named West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) Player of the Year, WVIAC Tournament MVP, AVCA Great Lakes Region All-Region and AVCA All-American Honorable Mention.
After graduating, Krumdieck spent three years as a fourth grade teacher at St. Elizabeth Catholic School in Rockville, Md. and coached at St. John’s College High School.
