Brian Doyle enters his sixth season on the cross country and track and field staff as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.

Doyle has been an integral part of the Davidson coaching staff since his arrival in 2015.

As the program’s recruiting coordinator, Doyle helped bring in a top-11 men’s recruiting class nationally during the 2018-19 early signing period, according to MileSplit. The women’s class featured 19 newcomers, among them some of the top recruits in school history in several events.

At the helm of the women sprinters, Doyle has helped turn the program’s focus from a distance-heavy operation, to a full on track and field program. He has directly coached 33 school record performances, assisted 25 more, along with six NCAA East Preliminary qualifiers.

Prior to Davidson, Doyle served as a volunteer coach at Bishop Hendricken High School where he helped to organize practices and mentor high school athletes.

Doyle, a 2015 graduate of Providence College, came to Davidson with an impressive collegiate running resume from his time at both PC and Northeastern.

The Swansea, Massachusetts, native started out at Northeastern in 2010. An All-Colonial Athletic Conference selection in 2011, Doyle led his team to the highest conference finish in program history and the highest regional finish in 17 years. Doyle served as captain of the cross country team and track & field team.

At Providence, Doyle continued to experience success. In his two seasons of cross country, he helped the Friars to two top-20 finishes at the NCAA championships. In his final season, he raced to a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Northeast Regionals with a time of 30:33.2 to earn All-Regional honors. He went on to place 149th at the NCAA Championship. On the track, Doyle placed sixth in the 5,000-meter and eighth in the 3,000-meter at the 2014-15 Big East Championships.

A two-time All-Big East honoree, Doyle served as captain of the cross country team and track & field team. He graduated with a bachelor of arts in biology.
