‘Cats Shine Under the Lights at Elon Opener

ELON, N.C. – Highlighted by five runners in the top 20, the Davidson women's cross country team finished second "Under the Lights" at the Elon Opener Friday night.
Senior Molly Sullivan paced the 'Cats on the 4K course with a time of 13:59.2 to place sixth. She was followed by the freshmen duo of Charlotte Moor (14:14.2) and Annie Norman (14:17.1), who came home 14th and 15th, respectively.
Coming off a solid first season with the 'Cats, sophomore Abby Smith (17th) finished six-tenths of a second behind Norman with a time of 14:17.7, while Ansley Prescott concluded her first race in 14:26.6 to cross the line 20th.
In all, the Wildcats had three freshmen post points in their collegiate debuts.
Davidson finished with a final tally of 72 points, to come home runner-up behind the host Phoenix (27). East Carolina (102), Coastal Carolina (115) and High Point (145) rounded out the top five.
Mary Shoop, Leah Horgan, Camryn Quinn, Justine Meta, Hannah Morgan and Ellie Harrington also ran for the 'Cats.

Davidson will enjoy a three-week break from competition before returning to the trails Friday, Sept. 19 at the Adidas Wolfpack Invite hosted by NC State.
