Wagner '91
Ninth Season

Now in his ninth season on staff, Frank Swart continues to make his mark on the Davidson football program with improvements to the Wildcat secondary.

The Wildcats allowed five fewer points per game in 2011 than they did in 2010, while the passing defense ranked fourth overall in the Pioneer Football League last season. Safety Peter Kidwell received an All-PFL Honorable Mention.

The 2009 season saw Kidwell earn All-PFL Honorable Mention after logging three interceptions for 105 return yards, including a 30-yard return for touchdown at San Diego. The 105 yards off of interceptions is the most for a Wildcat since 1999. Kidwell earned second-team All-PFL accolades in 2010 and honorable mention in 2011.

In 2005, Alex Arinsmier led the league in tackles per game and was named the PFL South Defensive Player of the Year, and first-team all-conference selection Patrick FitzGerald was tied for third in the conference with four interceptions in 2006.

Swart is no stranger to successful football programs. A member of the 1987 Division III national champion football team at Wagner College, he was a two-time captain and four-year letterwinner for the Seahawks. In his junior season, he was honorable mention All-ECAC.

After graduating from Wagner in 1991 as a two-time national qualifier in wrestling (177 and 190), Swart became the assistant football and wrestling coach at Upsala College while attending graduate school. He also earned a master’s degree in human resources and business administration from South Carolina. He now works for Cover 2 Group, a marketing company.

Swart currently resides in Huntersville with his wife, Linda, and his three daughters, Ava (11), Julianna (9) and Caroline (7).
