LAST TIME OUT
Katie Donovan's 14 points and scoring contributions from 10 different Wildcats allowed the Wildcats to roll past VCU 66–39 Wednesday night.
The Wildcats shot 43.6 percent from the floor and caused a season-high 25 turnovers.
Angeliki Ziaka scored a season-high off the bench for the Wildcats, scoring 12 points on 50 percent shooting.
The 'Cats finished the day with 25 points off the bench as every active player saw playing time.
On the boards, Davidson held a 41-31 advantage, led by nine from Ines Garcia Monje and seven from Charlise Dunn.
SERIES HISTORY
Davidson holds a 3–12 all-time record against Dayton but has claimed victory in each of the last three meetings.
Last March, the Wildcats eliminated the Flyers in the A-10 tournament, defeating them 56-36. The 36-points was the lowest point total the Wildcats had allowed under head coach Gayle Fulks.
Dunn scored a game-high 16 points as Davidson forced 29 turnovers to advance to the semifinal round. She was joined in double figures by senior Issy Morgan, who had 13 points.
DEEP BENCH
The Wildcats have benefitted this season from having deep bench to compliment their starting five. Overall, the Wildcats have outscored their opponents 423-351 in bench points and have 18 games this season where the 'Cats bench has outscored their opponent. In those games, Davidson holds a 12-6 record.
Coming off a 25-point bench performance at VCU, the Wildcats now have seven players averaging 4-plus points per game. The 'Cats average 17.7 bench points per game and have had 10 games this season where the bench has eclipsed the 20-point threshold.
DOWN THE STRETCH
The Wildcats enter the final stretch of the regular season with four games left, starting with Saturday's matchup against VCU. They currently sit in a two-way tie for fourth place in the A-10 alongside Saint Joseph's.
Davidson has already defeated two of its remaining three opponents once this year—VCU, Saint Louis, and Fordham—and winning out would significantly strengthen their chances of earning a double-bye in the conference tournament. The win over VCU on Wednesday secured Davidson at least a first-round bye in the tournament. Dayton is the only A-10 foe the Wildcats have not faced this season.
Four wins would also mark the programs first 20-win season since the 2011-12 season.
Up Next
The Wildcats close out their regular season road schedule with trip to Fordham next Wednesday.
