WASHINGTON — After helping the Davidson field hockey team to a second consecutive 2-0 weekend, Wildcats Sib Naaktgeboren and Lourdes Wolf have earned Atlantic 10 Conference weekly honors, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Naaktgeboren is the A-10 Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week, while Wolf is A-10 Rookie of the Week.
"Sib and Lourdes and Eva van der Kooi are quite the trio up front," said Davidson coach Zoe Almquist, whose team has won four straight for the first time since 2010. "It has been really special to watch how the front line is connecting for great results this season."
The A-10's leading scorer with 11 goals, Naaktgeboren totaled three goals over the weekend. She scored the first goal in Friday's 3-2 win over La Salle in the A-10 opener then added two second-half goals in Sunday's 4-2 victory over Ohio, after the teams played to a 2-2 score by the intermission.
A senior and Netherlands native, Naaktgeboren is tied for third nationally in scoring and is the first Wildcat to score 11 goals since 2012.
"Sib has just been so fun to watch," said Almquist. "I love that she's finding a lot of different ways to finish, from corners to open field goals. We're all just feeling grateful we get to watch her go right now!"
Wolf, a freshman from Germany, scored early in the second half of the win over La Salle, as the Wildcats built a 3-0 lead in the first 51-plus minutes.
"Lourdes has been a great supporter of our team's success this season," said Almquist. "She plays super unselfishly and also presses really well. It was awesome to see her score an important goal on Friday."
Naaktgeboren, Wolf and the Wildcats (5-3) will visit A-10 foe Lock Haven on Friday, Sept. 26.
