
Wildcats Fall at Nationally-Ranked Tennessee Tech

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Continuing its challenging non-conference stretch to open the 2025 campaign, Davidson fell at No. 15/16 Tennessee Tech, 72-14, Saturday afternoon inside Tucker Stadium.
Playing its fifth nationally-ranked opponent since 2001, the Wildcats fall to 0-3. The Golden Eagles extended the nation's longest FCS winning streak, while improving to 3-0.
Led by Kekoa Visperas, who concluded the day 23-of-32 for 246 yards and five touchdowns (3 pass, 2 rush), Tennessee Tech finished with 576 yards of total offense. In addition, Quinn Quintell rushed for 122 yards and two scores on nine carries for the Golden Eagles.
Shortly after Mari Adams scampered for 37 yards down the sideline, Coulter Cleland connected with Ivan Hoyt for the second straight game, this time with an 18-yard touchdown pass to put Davidson on the board.
Adams led the 'Cats on the ground with a season-high 58 yards on 11 carries.
With 1:33 left in the half, Christian Lyons forced a fumble that was recovered by Dallas Brown setting up the Wildcats on the Tennessee Tech 19-yard line. On the ensuing play, Cleland found Reina in the endzone to cut the deficit to 31-14.
Cleland finished the day, 16-of-26 for 132 yards and two touchdown throws.
The Golden Eagles, who led 28-0 after the first quarter, would answer with a 7-play, 50-yard touchdown drive and 60-yard interception return to put the game out of reach.
Defensively, freshman Hudson Altenburg led Davidson with nine tackles.
