OLEAN, N.Y. – Despite St. Bonaventure leading for much of the afternoon, the Davidson Wildcats scored four of the game's final five goals, including Adrienne Leone's over-the-shoulder dagger, to skip past the Bonnies 10-8 on Sunday.
Leone's goal stretched the Wildcats' late lead to 10-8 with 1:36 left to play, while Jenna Skibbe ultimately scored the game-winning goal, off a pass from Devyn Martinez, at the 11:33-mark of the fourth quarter.
Josie Lambert got the 'Cats started in Olean on Sunday, scoring two-straight in the opening four minutes, before the Bonnies went on to outscore Davidson 6-2 over the remainder of the first half.
Bonaventure went into halftime up 6-4, and held onto its 7-6 lead until the 7:02-mark of the third quarter, before freshman Aeryn Curren scored her third career goal to ignite the Wildcats' 4-1 scoring run. After Curren's strike, Leone scored her second of the day to give Davidson its first lead since the opening minutes, with an 8-7 advantage heading into the fourth.
As the 'Cats closed out the win with their late surge, Kayla Joyce made seven saves in cage, while freshman Lydia Canavan led the defense with three caused turnovers.
