New-Look ‘Cats Set to Host Annual Spring Game Saturday Night

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Under the direction of first-year head coach Saj Thakkar, Davidson will hold its annual spring football game Saturday evening at 6 p.m. inside Davidson College Stadium.
The game is FREE and open to the public.
"Our players and coaches worked extremely hard this spring to get our new standards and systems in place," said Thakkar. "It has been competitive, high energy, and demanding but a very enjoyable spring as well."
Thakkar, 34, spent the last two years as the head coach at Bentley University, where he led the NCAA Division II program in Waltham, Mass., to a 14-6 overall record, an 11-4 mark in Northeast 10 Conference play and a pair of second-place finishes.
Prior to Saturday's scrimmage, Davidson will have practiced 14 times over the last four weeks.
"Our staff is excited to see the progress at our spring showcase on Saturday," Thakkar commented. "It will be a day filled with competition and situational scrimmage work and will be a huge step for our program as we gear up for the summer and fall camp."
"For fans, it will be a great opportunity to get an early look at the 2025 Wildcats."
Davidson will open its 2025 fall campaign Saturday, Aug. 30 when Georgetown comes to town for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
