Wildcats Drops 4-3 Match vs. Brown

DAVIDSON - The Davidson women's tennis team battled to a tight 4-3 loss against out of conference opponent Brown Sunday on the Davidson Tennis Courts.Â
The loss moves the Wildcats overall record to 10-4 while it will re-enter conference competition this upcoming weekend.Â
"The team competed extremely well today all down the line," said head coach Susanne Depka. "We just needed to be a bit more consistent with our processes. We did well with them at times but against a solid opponent it just wasn't quite good enough. Kavya, Dani and Savanna were amazing today, stepping up their games! I'm proud of the team and their mentality and fight today."Â
The Bears kicked off the match with an early lead, taking the doubles point via wins on courts one and three leaving Savanna Kollock and Bryson Langford unfinished on court two, ahead of their competitors 5-4.Â
Senior Kavya Patel made quick work of her opponent at the No. 1 position in singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win to give the 'Cats their first team point. Brown stuck back, taking a pair of two-set victories on courts four and five to pull the team standing back ahead.Â
Kollock and Daniela Porges both saw their matches go to a third set. Kollock willed out an intense 7-5, 6-7(2), 7-5 win at No. 2 while Porges was able to battle for a 7-5, 0-6, 6-3 triumph of her own on court three, pulling the Wildcats even with the Bears once more.Â
However, Brown took the final match on court six via a three-set victory to clinch the final point and win the day 4-3.Â
Up Next
Davidson will jump back into Atlantic 10 competition when it travels to Rhode Island for an 11 a.m. match March 29.Â
