Wildcats Cruise to 6-1 Win at UNC Greensboro

DAVIDSON - The Davidson women's tennis team earned its first road win of the 2024-25 Spring season when it defeated UNC Greensboro 6-1 Sunday afternoon.Â
The win improves the 'Cats overall record to 3-1 on the season.Â
"We bounced back well today from our match Saturday," said head coach Susanne Depka. "We did a fantastic job with our goals for the match. Each player took control of their match, played their game and was disciplined. We definitely got better today which will help us going into this week of practice and the next matches. We did better than we ever have against a good UNC Greensboro team."Â
The Wildcats opened the day clinching the doubles point after Ellie Hammond and Charlotte Calderwood rolled to a 6-0 sweep on court three before Bryson Langford and Ines Roti claimed a 6-3 triumph on court two to seal the first team point of the day.Â
Langford took her second win of the day defeating her opponent 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 3 spot before Kavpa Patel followed with a 6-0, 6-2 court one win to put the 'Cats ahead 3-0.Â
The Spartans earned a point in a hard fought match on court three as Alexandra Dodashev took the first set 6-1 over Daniela Porges before dropping set two 6-3 and fighting back to an 11-9 tiebreak for UNC Greensboro's first point of the match.Â
However, the Wildcats put the match away picking up wins on court four via Hammond (6-1, 6-2), Hooper on court six (6-4, 6-1) and Roti on court five (6-4, 1-0 *opponent retired) to complete a great Davidson team win.Â
