LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats claimed their first league victory on opening night of Atlantic 10 women's basketball, defeating Duquesne 72-55 inside Belk Arena.
The win marked the third straight year the Wildcats, now 6-3, have opened A-10 play with a victory. Katie Donovan scored a game-high 19 points, and Charlise Dunn added her third straight double-double. Leading 34-33 at the break, Davidson took over in the second half, outscoring the Dukes 38-22 as Duquesne (6-3) struggled with 33 percent shooting from the field.
The Wildcats pushed their lead to double digits for the first time in the third quarter following a 7-1 run, then scored the first eight points of the fourth to pull away.
Donovan scored 11 of her points in the first half, including a 3-pointer during a 12-0 first-quarter run that produced a 15-6 lead.
Dunn finished with 10 points and 11 boards, and Kyra Bruyndoncx also added 10 points.
SERIES HISTORY
The 'Cats will look to avenge last season's 80-61 loss to Ball State in Muncie, the first and only meeting between the two programs. Donovan recorded her previous career-high of 19 points at Ball State in last season's matchup, but the Cardinals controlled the tempo for most of the game.
Ball State enters the contest with an 8-1 record and is coming off a resounding 119-34 win over Oakland City on Wednesday. Four players are averaging double digits for Ball State, led by Bree Salenbein, who averages 16.8 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per game. The Cardinals lead the nation in rebounds per game at 52.1 and rank second in Division I in three-point percentage defense, holding opponents to 20.4 percent from beyond the arc.
DYNAMIC DUO
Donovan and Dunn have been the driving forces behind the Wildcat offense all season and have only gotten better as the season progresses. Since the WBCA, the two have combined for 32.5 points per game and are collectively shooting 42.8 percent from the field.
Donovan has been particularly good in Belk Arena, scoring 15.5 points per game, shooting 45 percent from beyond the arc and 45.8 percent from the field. She is also a perfect 7-for-7 from the line at home.
Dunn has been just as good, averaging 18.5 points per game and 9.8 rebounds over her last four games. Her three straight double-doubles mark the longest streak of her career and the first Wildcat since Millie Prior in 2023 to post three straight double-doubles.
WIN THE TURNOVER BATTLE
Davidson ranks as one of the best teams in the Atlantic 10 in taking care of the ball, averaging only 13.6 turnovers per game, the second-best mark in the league. Conversely, one area of weakness for an otherwise well-rounded Ball State team has been turnovers, as they average 18.9 per game with a margin of -1.00. Davidson holds a .98 assist to turnover ratio, the fourth best mark in the A-10 while Ball State has 1.09 ratio, bolstered by their MAC leading 20.6 assists per game.

The Wildcats continue their non-conference slate next Sunday when they play their cross-town rivals at Charlotte at 7:00 p.m.
