DAVIDSON, N.C. – Junior guard Sylvie Jackson will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season as she undergoes treatment for Hodgkins Lymphoma as announced by Jackson and the program Monday afternoon.
"The news of Sylvie's diagnoses was incredibly challenging for our entire program. We all care deeply about Sylvie, which made this a very difficult reality to process," said head coach Gayle Fulks. "As we've had time to reflect, I am incredibly proud of her strength and resilience, and I know those qualities will carry her through the treatment ahead."
"Sylvie is a determined, strong young woman, and I have no doubt she will emerge even stronger. Our entire team stands firmly behind her and will support her every step of this journey. I also want to thank everyone who has already shown support for Sylvie and our team—including the doctors, the sports medicine and mental health professionals, our administration, fans, and our community. Your encouragement has meant more than you can imagine and will continue to help her as we navigate the next steps together."
Jackson, a native of Zion Crossroads, Va., appeared in six games this season after returning from an injury sustained in her freshman season.
"This news has been overwhelming, but I'm extremely grateful for the people I'm surrounded by who have made this all a little bit easier. I will be starting treatment soon and am staying positive about the outcome. I'm taking this day by day and appreciate all the thoughts and prayers," said Jackson.
