'Cats Top High Point 76-65; Homestand Continues Friday Against Morgan State

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Ines Garcia Monje scored a career-high 20 points and Charlise Dunn added a double-double as Davidson earned a 76-65 win over High Point in women's basketball Wednesday evening inside Belk Arena.
Dunn scored 18 to go with 10 boards and a career-best seven steals, while Katie Donovan scored 17 and hit four of her six 3-point attempts, helping the Wildcats improved to 8-4.
After High Point (10-2) erased a six-point halftime deficit and tied it at 41-all in the third quarter, the Wildcats promptly answered with an 8-0 run — bookended by Donovan free throws — to regain control for good.
Garcia Monje exceeded her previous scoring high (11 points at Mississippi State) with 13 in the first half on 6-of-6 shooting and finished with a career-high nine boards and five assists.
Donovan had 12 points in the third, including a left-wing 3-pointer to make it 62-47 just before the horn. The Wildcats' lead peaked at 17 early in the fourth.
Led by Dunn's 10 boards, the Wildcats finished with a 37-24 rebounding advantage.
Davidson utilized an 11-2 run, including seven straight points from Garcia Monje, to push its first-half lead to nine points, 32-23, in the second quarter. Following another Garcia Monje bucket with two seconds left in the half, the Wildcats took a 35-29 lead into the break.
Macy Spencer scored 19 points to lead High Point.
