Wildcats Look to Retain 704 Cup with Battle at Charlotte

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson women's basketball team takes a short trip to face their cross-town rival Charlotte Sunday night at 7 p.m.

The Wildcats torched the nets for a program-record 17 made threes as the Wildcats cruised to an 87-65 victory over Ball State inside Belk Arena.
The 'Cats improved to 7-3 on the season and 5-0 at home with the win as three Wildcats posted double-figure scoring nights for the fourth straight game.
Katie Donovan was superb, going for a career-high 28 points on 10-for-16 shooting from the floor and went 7-of-8 from beyond the arc. Kyra Bruyndoncx also posted a career-high 25 points and nailed six of the 17 threes for the 'Cats on their record-breaking shooting night.
Charlise Dunn also added 18 points, five rebounds and a team-high six assists.
SERIES HISTORY
The 'Cats trail the 49ers 15-19 in the all-time series. Davidson is currently riding a four-game winning streak against Charlotte following an 82-55 route of the 49ers last season Dec. 21, 2024.
Donovan posted her previous career-high of 25 points, finishing 9-of-11 from the floor, hit all six of her free throws and was key in the third quarter as the Wildcats turned a 37-31 halftime lead into a 60-39 advantage.
Dunn hit four 3-pointers and added 14 points, while Issy Morgan and Candice Lienafa scored 11 apiece.

Last season, the Wildcats shattered the program record for threes made in a season draining 250 over the regular season and postseason. After their record-setting shooting night against Ball State, the 'Cats are on pace to hit 260 threes in the regular season at a clip of 8.4 threes per game. DYNAMIC DUO
The duo of Charlise Dunn and Katie Donovan has reached new heights after their win over Ball State. Donovan is the reigning A-10 Player of the week after averaging 23.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 4.0 steals per game across two contests. The guard from Queensland, Australia put together an extremely efficient stretch, shooting 60.7 percent from the field, 70.6 percent from behind the arc, and 100 percent from the free throw line. Donovan ranks 6th in the nation in three-point percentage, shooting 52.6 percent from deep.
Her Australian counterpart, Dunn, has been just as important for the 'Cats. She averaged 14.0 points per game and lead the team with 16 rebounds against Ball State and Duquesne. Dunn has been elite defensively for the 'Cats, leading the team with 12 blocks and averaging 1.2 steals per game. Dunn has scored in double figures in every single game this season and in 15 of Davidson's last 16 games dating back to last season.
Additionally, Kyra Bruyndoncx has three straight double figure scoring nights and has broken her single game career high for the third time this season against Ball State with 25 points.
