FORT MYERS, Fla. – Charlise Dunn and Kyra Bruyndoncx scored 20 points each as Davidson cruised to a convincing 77-51 win at Florida Gulf Coast Saturday evening inside Alico Arena.
In addition to improving to 2-1 on the young season, the Wildcats handed the Eagles (277-20) just their 20th setback on their home floor since moving to Division I in 2007.
Candice Lienafa also added double figures with 10 points for the Wildcats, who drilled 12 3-pointers, including six for Bruyndoncx.
Dunn and Edina Strausz paced the 'Cats with eight rebounds each, which led to a 39-34 edge on the glass.
Despite trailing 20-19 after one, Davidson grabbed control of the contest outscoring the Eagles 22-8 in the second quarter to lead 41-28 at the half.
In addition to 17 points from Dunn in the opening 20 minutes, the 'Cats drilled eight treys prior to intermission.
The 'Cats could not have scripted a better start to the fourth quarter, scoring the first 12 points eventually stretching the margin 20 and putting the game out of reach.
Sinai Douglas was the lone Eagle in double figures with 15 points.
