DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson College women's basketball team beings their home schedule at John M. Belk Arena Thursday night with a 7 p.m. game against William and Mary.

SERIES HISTORY
Davidson holds a 2-5 record against William and Mary in the all-time series. In their last four meetings, the two teams have split a 2-2 record with the home team winning in each game.
In their last matchup, the Wildcats took a 76-65 win at Belk Arena on Nov. 24, 2018. Justine Lyon led the 'Cats to victory with a 17-point performance on 6-for-11 shooting. Sarah Donovan also chipped in a 10-point, 10 rebound double-double to seal the 11-point victory.
LAST TIME OUT...
The Wildcats opened their 2025-26 campaign with a battle against SEC opponent, Mississippi State, falling 66-57 on the road. The two teams went back-and-forth throughout the night, exchanging the lead four times and tying the game seven times. Ultimately, the Bulldogs pulled away in the fourth quarter by getting to the free throw line, going 21-for-31 in the contest.
Charlise Dunn and Ines Garcia Monje led the 'Cats in scoring with 11 point each. Davidson had a balanced attack throughout the game as 10 of the 11 Wildcats who saw playing time recorded a basket. Garcia Monje along with freshman Elena Alvarez Castellanos made their collegiate debut while Angeliki Ziaka made her debut for the Red and Black after transferring from San Francisco.
NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED 'CATS…
On Tuesday, Dunn and Garcia Monje were named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award and Tamika Catchings Award preseason watch list, respectively, as announced by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.
The Ann Meyers Drysdale Award is presented annually to the women's national player of the year by the USBWA. The watchlist recognizes the top 50 preseason players in the nation. Similarly, the Tamika Catchings watchlist highlight's the top 20 preseason freshman across the country.
POINTS OFF THE BENCH…
At Mississippi State, the Wildcats' bench outscored the Bulldogs 28-19 and secured 10 of the team's 27 rebounds. They were led by the freshman, Garcia and Alvarez, along with Ziaka, who scored five points and hit a buzzer-beating three to keep the game tied at 31-all entering the second half. Jasmine Timmerson also chipped in four points in her three minutes.
CHARITY STRIPE…
The 'Cats ability to get to the line and make their free-throws kept them within striking distance at Mississippi State. As a team, Davidson was 17-for-20 from the line for an 85 percent free-throw shooting percentage, ranking 27th in the nation after one game. Dunn, Alvarez and Emilie Bessell combined for a perfect 10-for-10 from the line and the 'Cats went 9-for-10 in the third quarter.
HOME SWEET HOME…
Under head coach Gayle Fulks, the Wildcats have had tremendous success at Belk Arena and have won their past two home openers. In Fulks' previous eight seasons, the Wildcats have had an under .500 record at home only once in Fulks' first year as head coach in 2017-18.
In the past two seasons, the 'Cats are 22-7 in Belk Arena and 63-39 under Fulks.
