CHAPEL HILL, NC - The Davidson women's tennis team wrapped up a strong performance at ITA Regionals. For the first time in program history, the Wildcats had two scholar-athletes advance to the round of 16 in the main doubles bracket.
"The ITA Regional Championships is a very prestigious tournament for tennis," said head coach Susanne Depka. "The best players from Division I schools in North Carolina and South Carolina compete for spots in the NCAA Individual Tournament. This tournament is a great experience as well as an opportunity to learn. I believe all the players in this tournament saw improvement and gained confidence knowing they can compete with some of the best players in the country."
Bryson Langford and Savanna Kollock led the way for the Wildcats. Kollock won her first singles match in the main draw and the duo won first two matches in the main doubles draw.
"I am so proud of Savanna and Bryson not only for their success but also their growth as a doubles team," said Coach Depka.
Livy Hooper and Ellie Hammond also had some solid moments during this tournament. Hooper won her second singles match in the qualifying consolation round. Hammond played a three-set match against a seeded player from Charlotte.
"It was a crazy tiebreaker with match points on both ends, with Livy shaking them and not giving her opponent the win," said Coach Depka. "Livy finally secured the tiebreak with a 13-11 win."
