Hidalgo Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

WASHINGTON - Davidson men's tennis freshman Gregorio Hidalgo has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week following his undefeated weekend, the league office announced Tuesday.
Hidalgo, a native of Madrid, Spain, was a perfect 3-0 in competition over the season-opening weekend as Davidson defeated Lenoir-Rhyne 6-1, 4-3 in a home doubleheader Jan. 25. Hidalgo picked up his first career A-10 weekly honor after earning singles wins in the No. 3 and No. 4 positions. The rookie defeated both of his solo opponents by way of convincing 6-1, 6-1 triumphs.
In doubles play, Hidalgo joined forces with senior Nico Pinzon for a 6-4 victory out of the No. 2 spot.
Davidson continues the budding season when it travels to Blacksburg, Va., Feb. 2 to compete against St. Bonaventure in its first Atlantic 10 match before rounding out the doubleheader against host Virginia Tech.
