
'Cats Sweep Lenoir-Rhyne in Season Opener

DAVIDSON - The Davidson women's tennis team opened the 2025 season in striking fashion with back-to-back 7-0 wins against Lenoir-Rhyne Sunday in a non-conference doubleheader.Â
The wins start the Wildcats at 2-0 for the season awaiting the start of Atlantic 10 conference play.Â
"Our first match was one of the best we have ever had in regard to translating practice to match day," said head coach Susanne Depka. "I am proud of each and every one of the players growth and touching on our goals. I am excited for the next weekend of matches!"Â
Davidson swept the doubles action in the first match against the Eagles with Kavya Patel and Daniela Porges taking a 6-2 court one win, Savanna Kollock and Bryson Langford earning a 6-4 victory and Alex Rodehorst and Ellie Hammond sealing the deal via 7-6(2) triumph in the No. 3 spot.Â
From one to six the 'Cats cruised in singles competition with Patel on court one, Langford at No. 2, Hammond in the third position, Ines Roti on court four, Rodehorst at No. 5 and Olivia Hooper in the sixth position.Â
Match two was a similar scenario in singles with six straight wins via Kollock at No. 1, Langford on court two, Roti at three, Rodehorst in the fourth spot, Hooper at No. 5 and Lilly Dwyer on court six.Â
The Bears took their first match of the double header in the second portion of doubles competition with a 6-2 court one win. However, Kollock and Langford picked up their second win as a pair (6-4) at No. 2 before Roti and Hooper clinched the doubles point in a gutsy 7-5 win on court three.Â
