Wildcats to Open 2024 Fall Slate with Home Event at River Run

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson will open its 2024-25 men's golf season as host of the River Run Collegiate Sept. 16-17 at River Run Country Club.
Monday's opening round will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a shotgun start. The 11-team event will feature 36 holes on day one followed by the final round Tuesday, which will also be a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
Joining the Wildcats in this year's event will be Appalachian State, Delaware, East Carolina, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Le Moyne, Loyola-Chicago, Marshall, Radford and Yale. The event will also include 11 individual competitors.
Under the direction of six-time conference Coach of the Year Tim Straub, the 'Cats return three starters from last year's squad that recorded a pair of wins, while finishing inside the Top-5 10 times.
Among those returning include all-conference performers Will Davis and Joshua Stewart.
Davis, who earned an at-large selection into the 2024 NCAA Chapel Hill Regional last spring, led the Wildcats with a 70.54 stroke average a year ago. In addition, he posted a school-record 24 sub-par rounds, an individual title, and four Top-5 showings.
Behind a team-best seven Top-10 finishes, including two runner ups, Stewart was just behind his teammate with a 70.90 scoring average in 2023-24.
Sophomore Davis Sayman and newcomers Nate Faulker and Clayton Couey will also be in the Wildcats' starting lineup.
