‘Cats Down Dukes 15-5 in Regular Season Finale

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Davidson lacrosse team closed out its regular season with a 15-5 win over the Duquesne Dukes on Saturday afternoon.
The 'Cats finished the regular season with a 10-6 record overall, and a 7-2 ledger in Atlantic 10 play. With seven conference wins, the Wildcats ended 2024 with their best A-10 league record in program history.
Julianne Carey and Josie Lambert led the way Saturday, scoring three goals apiece while Carey also dished three assists and won four draw controls. In total, eight 'Cats found the back of the net, with Jenna Skibbe, Riley Moore and Adrienne Leone all striking twice.
The Wildcats took their first lead of the day after Lambert's second goal at the 1:13-mark of the first quarter, 4-3, before Davidson burst into an 11-2 scoring run over the final 45 minutes of play. During the stretch, the 'Cats also held Duquesne scoreless in the fourth quarter.
Goalkeepers Paige Doyle and Kayla Joyce combined for nine saves, with Doyle allowing just one goal in 30 minutes of work. Moore and Allie Hartnett also combined for 10 draw controls, while senior defender Noelle Cegielski had an impressive day causing six turnovers.
Davidson will await official seedings from the Atlantic 10 Conference office for its 2024 Championship beginning on Thursday, May 2 back at Rooney Field in Pittsburgh, Pa.
