'Cats Return Home for Start of A-10 Play

3/8/2024 8:32:00 AM | Women's Lacrosse

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- After its two-game road swing out West, the Davidson lacrosse program returns home to begin Atlantic 10 Conference play on Saturday afternoon.

The 'Cats will host La Salle University from inside Richardson Stadium at 1 p.m. and will honor their nine graduating seniors before the start of the contest.

NON-CONFERENCE RECAP...
The Wildcats enter A-10 play at 3-4 overall, picking up three-straight wins over Winthrop, Stetson and Coastal Carolina. Over the seven-game stretch, Jenna Skibbe, Brooke Ross and Josie Lambert have each earned Atlantic 10 weekly honors, as the trio sits in the top-5 of Davidson's offense. Lambert, who leads the Wildcats in goals (23) and points (26) has cracked the top-16 nationally in total goals and is second in the A-10 in goals per game (3.29). Allie Hartnett and Riley Cochrane quarterback the offense, leading the way with 11 and 10 assists, respectively, and have combined for 21 goals.

ABOUT THE EXPLORERS...
La Salle lacrosse enters this weekend with a pair of wins over Howard University (21-4) and Fairleigh Dickinson (19-10). Katie Johnson paces the Explorers with 14 goals and 19 points, while Alana Lathan and Ellen Stickney have 15 points apiece. In a 13-12 double overtime loss to Manhattan in late February, the Explorers erased a six-goal deficit over the final 22 minutes of regulation to force the two extra periods. Over the last five minutes of the contest, Stickney and Johnson scored three-straight goals to settle the score at 12-all before heading into overtime.

SENIOR DAY CELEBRATIONS...
Davidson's 2024 senior class is composed of nine four-year scholar athletes who, just three wins into the season, have already become the winningest class in program history. With 39 wins to their names, they surpassed the 2023 graduating class (38 wins) with their 18-9 win over Coastal Carolina back on February 21. Prior to the 2023 class' record-setting tenure, three classes (2014, 2015 and 2016) had each reached the 37-win mark.
