DAVIDSON, N.C. – In addition to Timaya Lewis-Eutsey (21) and Sarah Te-Biasau (19) combining for 40 points, VCU closed on a 13-4 run to end Davidson's 10-game winning streak with a 65-55 victory Sunday inside John M. Belk Arena.
The Wildcats, who fall for the first time in nearly two months, drop to 12-2 overall and 2-1 in A-10 play.
Despite the setback, Suzi-Rose Deegan paced Davidson with 17 points, while Millie Prior added 10 and 8 rebounds.
After Davidson outscored the Rams 24-14 in the first quarter and went to the half up, 34-30, VCU scored nine unanswered to start the third sparking a 13-2 spurt to take its first lead since the opening minutes of the contest.
With the 'Cats trailing 50-46 entering the fourth quarter, Deegan drilled a 3-pointer late in the shot clock and followed with a layup to quickly cut the deficit to one, 52-51, with 6:15 to play. VCU responded with 11 straight points to put the game out of reach.
