Wildcats Drop SoCon Opener to Campbell

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson Wildcats got three wins by Tyler-Xavier McKnight, Tanner Peake, and Wyatt Ferguson, but it was not enough as the Wildcats fell to the Campbell Fighting Camels on Sunday night, 31-9.
After the Wildcats dropped the first four matches, three by tech fall and one by major decision, freshman Tyler-Xavier McKnight slowed the flood gates with a hard-fought 4-1 decision over Hagen Heistand for his team-leading 13th win this year. In the next match, Tanner Peake ended a five-match skid by getting back in the win column with a 6-1 decision on two takedowns. Rounding out the Davidson wins was another freshman, Wyatt Ferguson, who collected a 4-2 decision over Conor Maslanek for his eighth win of the year and his third in dual action.
