
Wildcats set to host Davidson Invitational

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson College men's tennis team will welcome four teams to the Davidson Tennis Courts for a three-day invitational from Friday through Sunday.
In attendance of this year's invitational will be Gardner-Webb, Longwood, Queens and UNC Greensboro.
The schedule for the three-day event will feature:
*The matches will be eight-player compass draws
Friday: Singles (3 p.m. start)
Saturday: Two doubles, one singles (9 a.m. start)
Sunday: One singles, one doubles (9 a.m. start)
FALL OPENER UPDATE
Coming off the fall season opener at UNC Greensboro last weekend, four pairs of doubles teams picked up at least one win over the two-day invitational including Alejandro Solares and Udday Singh, Nico Pinzon and Juan Camilo Perez Gongora, Sebatian Carpio Moran and Nikhil Mukherjee as well as Carpio Moran and Charlie Ratliff.
Additionally, Carpio Moran and Ratliff each exited opening weekend with one single's win under their belt.
PREVIOUSLY AT THE DAVIDSON INVITATIONAL
The 'Cats competed against UNC Asheville, Charlotte and Queens University over a three-day outing.
The Wildcats earned one doubles victory at the hands of Solares and Singh (6-3, 6-3) in addition to 13 individual victories. Jerry Wang highlighted the weekend, earning a total of three singles victories and winning hist respective draw. Wang won two, three-set matches and a earned a 7-5, 6-2 win in round two to seal the deal.
Additionally, Luca Lovrich won two straight matches, in rounds one and two, taking the first match 7-6, 6-7, 10-7, and game two 6-1, 4-6, 10-6, while William Clark and Pinzon won two singles matches.
Singh, Camilo Perez Gongora and Maxwell Kachkarov each picked up singles victories to close out the weekend.
UP NEXT
The Wildcats will take the beginning of October to prepare for the ITA Regional's before returning to the courts Oct. 20 for the ITA Regional Championships at Duke University.
